Changes at the Riu Taino

It looks like they have integrated the Riu Melao into the Riu Taino. The Taino now advertises 600 plus rooms with two pools. The changes might be for the better as they are also advertising new a la carte services including "La Yola" grill and steakhouse, an Asian restaurant, and the "Mediterraneo". They also advertise two pool side restaurants which include "La Bamba" and now the "Cocos". They must have made the Melao facilities into a la cartes. Just hope that the Buffet at the Taino isn't overrun with the people numbers that will now occupy over 600 rooms.

We have already booked the Taino for Apr. 22nd for two weeks. This was booked prior to the amalgamation of the Taino and the Melao. My only concern is the fact that they will now have guests in 600 + rooms accomodated at the same evening buffet that used to serve guests in 420 rooms. I am just curious as to the additional demand on the buffet service even with the addtional a la carte choices.

I believe that the Meleo restaurant facilities, animation etc are still there - what has been closed is the Meleo reception and admin building.

We're leaving for the Riu Taino in two weeks. I'll report on the changes when I return.

When we were at the Bambu last year the Melao was already joined to the Taino. At that time the Melao's buffet restaurant was still operating at both lunch and dinner (don't know about breakfast).
