RIU
Hotels achieve a record of awards conferred by the British tour
operator
RIU has received this year 24 "Golden Awards" that the
British Tour Operator
Thomson bestows to those hotels that satisfied its clients the
most.
This represents a record of the distinguished Thomson awards,
that this year
were distributed as follows:
Three hotels in Mexico have been awarded: Riu Palace Mexico,
ClubHotel Riu
Tequila and Riu Yucatan.
In Dominican Republic, four awards for: ClubHotel
Riu Bachata, Club
Hotel
Riu Bambu,
ClubHotel Riu Merengue and ClubHotel
Riu Mambo.
In Jamaica the only hotel RIU operates to date was awarded: the Riu
Tropical
Bay. The Riu Palace Madeira located
in the Portuguese island of Madeira
received an award as well. In addition, a "Golden
Award" was presented to
the Riu Cypria Bay located in Cyprus.
Seven properties in the Canary Islands received awards: Riu
Palace
Maspalomas, Riu Palace Meloneras, ClubHotel Gran Canaria Riu
(two
accolades), ClubHotel Riu Vistamar and Riu Don Miguel in Gran
Canaria; Riu
Palace Tres Islas in Fuerteventura; and Riu Coral Apartments in
Lanzarote.
In Andalusia, four hotels were awarded: Riu Atlantico, in Huelva;
Riu
Nautilus and Riu Belplaya in Torremolinos, and Riu Monica in
Nerja (two
accolades).
In Majorca, Riu Palace Bonanza located in Illetas.
RIU Hotels & Resorts (www.riu.com) operates 110 hotels in 13
countries and
employs 15,000 people. The hotel chain, that celebrates this
month of
November its 50th Anniversary, was created in Majorca, expanding
operations
in the Canary Islands, Andalusia and the Caribbean years later.
